Synopsis
A grieving therapist starts telling his clients exactly what he thinks
Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making big changes in people’s lives – including his own. The cast of “Shrinking” shares the best moments that defined their characters in Season 1 and reveals who did the best Harrison Ford impression. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford to join the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and was going to audition with people like Ford.

Segel told Goldstein that they had to at least bring it to Ford first because he thought he would immediately turn it down, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had brought the project, which sparked interest from other notable actors. Eventually, Goldstein spoke with Ford and sold him on the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince her, but was excited nonetheless.

Two episodes out now, this show is looking promising, the chemistry between the characters is infectious and even weird at times… heartwarming in a way that most shows aren’t, just reminiscent of the show’s community of these elements. I’m not sure if this accurately portrays the therapist’s way of dealing with issues, but it certainly gives Jason Segel room to come up with his own take.
Rhodes, Jason’s boss and mentor
I wasn’t sure how his character would work in this show, but Rhodes’ antisocial nature certainly lends itself to a persona that Ford comes across quite well when you think about it. His character Han Solo’s scarier elements in Star Wars fit this show like a glove. Sean (Luke Tennie) plays a somewhat too like-minded boy character to Jimmy (Segel) as he deals with his own family issues with his daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell)…
And the music in this show is so good
What I see here feels so alive and the possibilities perhaps (?) endless as I see Jimmy navigate these issues. Btw, the opening theme of this show is so good, I didn’t even skip it when I watched the second episode… Overall, this is going to be a great show, and I hope it only gets better from here on out.
