(2024). I’m not an anime fan and I don’t mind it (I’ve seen maybe 2 anime movies in my nearly 40 years of life), so I’m not particularly qualified to comment on the quality of the animation. All I can say is that I was apprehensive about Tolkien’s story being done in an anime style, but when I saw the film, I was pleasantly surprised.
Helm was fantastic (my favorite in the movies)
I loved this very unusual but beautiful mix of Middle-earth and anime. The story is good, simple, but it works: I cared about our characters, I smiled, I almost cried a few times. I liked the music and the sound in general.
The main character is very likeable, she cares a lot about her family and people and that is very refreshing
This story is new and at the same time very familiar, especially if you know your books and like the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but I left the theater with a smile on my face and a very cozy, warm feeling somewhere in my chest. Obviously it’s not on the level of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but it’s good and I hope we see more stories like this in the future.
