I just finished the first episode
In the timeless town of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendía family grapple with love, oblivion, and the inevitability of their past and fate. This is Netflix’s most expensive Latin American project to date, with Colombian groups and indigenous communities building props and sets for the series.
This could have been really terrible, but it’s not
It’s always a challenge to translate inner thoughts, fears, doubts, and internal reactions to things like visions! The dubbing is pretty good in English, but I switched to Spanish with English subtitles and it felt more comfortable.
I’ve read the book three times in my life and it’s okay
I’m glad they take their time on the table because it’s important to set the scene and even then it feels a bit rushed, but with sixteen episodes I’ll live with that. No expense was spared on the locations and sets and that helps set the mood.
No censorship, please!
I can’t wait to see the questionable ethnic stuff! “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
